Life drawing after uni!

I have started attending weekly drawing club All the Young Nudes in Dundee since completing my Masters course, so here are my efforts so far!

I may sometimes forget about the blog but i do try and post all my arts onto instagram @rockitbabydoll and i have a new twitter which i would also like to start filling with my art @RockItBabyDoll. (I really have to have a serious chat with myself about branding but this username has stuck since my teens and my full name just seems boring... however i am aware of how embarrassing it is so bare with me)

Ofcourse there is also my official online portfolio that i link to potential employers: http://www.coroflot.com/antonina-slavalawson/portfolio. This, i am considering scrapping and remaking as a tumblr blog because i have seen portfolios as tumblr pages that look tasty! Aaaand i  feel like it would be far more accessible than coroflot.

I haven't quite got into the rhythm of producing work regularly enough to have a facebook art page but i'm definitely thinking about it- i just need to sort my life out a bit first!

Limited palette experiment

I tried a new thing! the thing was using a very limited set of colours to complete a painting in photoshop:
This was the set palette i chose to use and i did not create it- i found it Here

I chose to use this photograph as reference- i don't own it and i can't find the source now i'm sorry.

And this is it complete! Really enjoyed it actually- got really bored doing the flowers though... Photoshop CC, Wacom Bamboo A5

I think i'll carry on doing the limited colours thing, it worked out really well and i think that it somehow made the process more fun and challenging for me.

Daddy's Girls

Excuse me while I fan-art! Saw this movie last weekend and loved it- and here are the two deadly leading ladies. Both Art Rage digital paintings using oil pastel settings. Gamora took much less time than nebula and i think is a looser looking piece.

 Gamora- Zoe Saldana

Nebula- Karen Gillan

An experiment...

I made this in a programme called Art Rage 4 which simulates sort-of real life physics for traditional art materials... doesn't mean i entirely understand how to use them though :P It's pretty rough and ready but i think the better parts of it, like the actual portrait, make it a bareable finished piece for me... at any rate i can't spend any more time on it!
My aim was to try and fit lot's of different media into it- to test the programme, but also so i could go for realistic skin and face, and more stylised hair- which are my favourite things.

I was inspired by this  photograph which i don't own:

I made this tiny sketch to try and work out what i wanted the final to look like. I actually drew this having already finished the hair and face in Art Rage. I didn't know what i wanted her clothes to look like or how i was going to frame her, but i knew i was going for a Gustav Klimt look.

I used this painting by Klimt near the end of my process as reference for her clothes and line work.
